Hello Friends,

Welcome to Friday. For many of us, the days are running together as there is little to distinguish one from the next. The ancient Christians established the Church calendar as a way of reminding us of God's action in human history. Holy Week is the high point of the church calendar, the time we have been given to reflect upon the passion of Jesus Christ, upon his sacrificial death on the cross, and upon his triumphant resurrection. These are the events on which the hinge of human history turns, even in light of our current crisis.

Today, let us each take some time to orient our hearts and minds around God's presence and perfect timing. Read these portions of Psalm 9:

1 I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart;
   I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
2 I will be glad and exult in you;
   I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.

9 The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed,
   a stronghold in times of trouble.
10 And those who know your name put their trust in you,
   for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.

18 For the needy shall not always be forgotten,
   nor the hope of the poor perish for ever.

While this passage concerns human enemies, it speaks to us as well regarding all kinds of adversaries - including the current epidemic. We give thanks to God, we proclaim His power, we praise Him because He is over and above any enemy we might face - human, spiritual, or natural. And we remember that God is interested in what happens to us, that He acts in human history, and that He has not forgotten us!

Friends, our hope is in the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

Have a blessed day,

Pastor Chris
