PBPC Daily - Tuesday, April 28
Good morning and welcome to Tuesday.
Some of us are still working from home, but I think that all of us have at least a little more time on our hands because of things that we aren't doing right now - commuting, shopping, and so on. I have heard encouragements from many people that we use this time productively to learn a new skill, take up a new hobby, or read a book that has been on our shelf for some time. Many of you have told me that you're using this time to take care of a house project, such as painting a room or cleaning out your closets.
I also know from experience that the time slips by, that the days run into weeks, and that we adjust and find ways to fill our time. Many of us wonder how we didn't manage to find the time to finish (or even begin) that project that seemed within our reach not so long ago.
I would venture to say that the single most important project we could take on during this time is to pray more. Our relationship and connection with God will have eternal significance, bringing blessing and growth to us and to others in this lifetime and in the life to come.
15But now more than ever the word about Jesus spread abroad; many crowds would gather to hear him and to be cured of their diseases. 16But he would withdraw to deserted places and pray. - Luke 5:15-17
Jesus models this priority for us. In the midst of His very important work, Jesus would stop and take time to be alone in prayer. And He was the Son of God! How much more important this is for us.
So perhaps we can think of this time as a gift, and make the most of it by intentionally investing some of it in a deeper and more consistent prayer life with God - before we get busy again and this opportunity passes from us.
Have a blessed day,
Pastor Chris
